Past Two Weeks!

Hey, hey everyone! Woo it's been a hectic, but good past two weeks! Two Wednesdays ago, we made cooked a lot of different foods using moist heat methods. We boiled chicken and poached shrimp, braised beef in a pan, and then finished it by baking it in the oven, and cooked fish in paper and oil in the oven. Then, each group had a side dish to prepare, and our group made apple cabbage by boiling apples and cabbage together with cider, white wine, and water! Then at the end we all tasted each others dishes, it was a lot of fun!

On Thursday, we had our baking midterm! First, we had a written midterm, with 50 questions, and then we had the practical were we each had to make chocolate chip cookies, cranberry citrus muffins, and flaky pie dough. We had 45 minutes to set up or Mise en place all of our ingredients and equipment, and then 2 and a half hours to bake everything! I made my pie dough first, and let it cool for 30 minutes. While it was cooling I made up my muffins, then took out the pie dough, and put the muffins in the oven. While the muffins were cooking I rolled out my pie dough and let it blind bake. When the muffins and pie dough were finished I began working on the cookies, and baked them. I was finished exactly at the end of our 2 and a half hours! I had to wait around to talk to the chefs, but I cleaned and did a lot of dishes. When they finally talked to me they said my pie dough was almost perfect, just a little too thins, and that I make perfectly shaped and identical products, I just need to work on not mixing too much!

On Friday and Saturday, I worked at Coldstones and had a blast, like I always do! ^_^

Then on last Tuesday I had Intro and Sanitation. We are now on the math section, and boy was everyone confused! Our short quiz took about 45 minutes! Basic math is so much harder then pre calc! x0 Later that night at Pastry Tube art we were supposed to make pipped mashed potatoes, but halfway through the class it got really stressful and let's just say not very fun. I just hope tomorrow is a lot better! ^_^

On Wednesday, we had our Culinary 1 midterm! It was 100 questions of doom! I think I did pretty good though, because I only felt confused on a few questions! Then in the kitchen we worked on our knife cuts and cut onions, celery, potatoes, garlic, carrots, basil, and more!

Then, on Thursday, we got our scores back from our written midterm, and I got a B minus! I'm sad it's not higher, but I'm so happy it isn't lower! We then talked about what we think our classes need to be better, and then in the kitchen we worked on making muffins, biscuits, and pie dough. My pie dough was perfect, but It didn't bake properly because the ovens kept getting open and shut over and over. My muffins still were a little overmixed, but they were better then the ones I made on my midterm, and my biscuits were nice and buttery, yet a little underdone!

On Friday and Saturday I worked at Coldstone and made myself a nice mix of white chocolate ice cream, oreos, chocolate fudge, and peanut butter cups, yum! I'm going to be sooo sad when we stop making White Chocolate ice cream! I can't wait for dark chocolate mint, and pumpkin though! ^_^

On Sunday I had lunch with my friend J and then that night my brother and some of his friends, and I, ordered Chinese food, and I got the greatest fortune ever! It said: "The Great Wall Didn't Got Build In One Day!" ... Didn't got build. Ahhh I love it. x0

Finally today, Monday, I had lunch with my friend J again, and we split a amazing pizza and both had coffee and desset. I had creme Brulle and she had tirimisu. We each had a few bites of each others and it was so good! I can't wait to go back to that coffee place! Then, when I checked my mail today I got my: HELLO KITTY TOASTER! : ) It is supposed to make hello kittys face on the toast, I hope it works, I will have to test it in the morning!

Well there was my looong recap of the past few weeks in my life of Culinary and just good food! I will try to get some pictures up soon and not go so long without posting! I had to keep studying for my Sanitation midterm tomorrow!

So, love you all lots!

Music trip continued!

Hey again! Whew sorry for the long time, no see. The hotels internet suddenly hated my computer on Friday night, so I just now was able to come back on (I'm home!) So, let's continue on from Friday!

First, we all woke up at like six on Friday to go and practice, and preform for the judges at Anchorages college. We were there from about 8 until noon practicing and preforming, then we took a break and went to lunch. After lunch we came back and practiced and preformed until about four. When all that was over, my friends mom took six of my best friends and I out to eat. We had chips and dip, breadsticks, salad, and two kinds of pizza. I was sooo stuffed, but it was great! After we were all in a food like coma state, she took us to Walmart really fast, and then we returned to our hotels to relax.

On Saturday, we had no where to go until 5 PM, so we slept into about 9:30. At around 10:30 we all dressed up in our uniforms and took pictures posed in front of the college. Then, we went to Kohls, and some stores around there. After that we all went to Pizza Hut, where I again stuffed myself full of pizza! Yuuum! When we were all nice and plump (again!), we went to the mall and ice skated for about an hour, then it was time to watch the best of the best students. We watched them preform everything from flute solos to jazz choir routines for three hours. After that, we went to Fred Meyer to get our moms Mothers Day presents, and then we had a late dinner at Mickey Ds, yay for ice cream!
: )

On Sunday, we woke up early and packed up all our stuff to return home! We were delayed because of weather for about two hours, but we finally made it home, but unfortunately my bag didn't make it! : ( I'm glad to be home though!

I had a great time, but now I can finish up high school, and I have time to bake again, yay!

Can't wait to talk to you all again!

Cinnamon rolls and pies!

Hollla! : )

Well tonight my mum finally gave in and decided to make a chicken pizza! My friends and I have been making them a lot the last few months, and my mom always thought they sounded good so tonight she looked up how to make one and we created an almost masterpiece! It was a little burnt at the bottom, but the top was cheesy, and just right!

After dinner I went over to my friends house and we made cinnamon rolls, apple pie, and cheesecake pie with a chocolate and honey graham cracker crust! Yummy! We never really follow the recipes, but we have a good time creating our...creations! x0

Now it's time to read some blogs and then get ready for bed. TGIF!! ^_^

Looong week!

Meh such a long week! Nothing much really happened though, haha. x0

I just worked on school work all week and then on Friday night my friends and I had another pizza night. We made onion and cheese pizza with cheese stuffed crust, and hickory BBQ chicken pizza. Oh my goooosh they were good! I had two pieces of each and then sat in a food coma for the rest of the night! ; ) I love our pizza/movies hang outs, they are the best!

On Saturday I helped serve food for a auction that was going on, and finally today I made some delicious brownies. They were box mix for the bottom and then had a layer of cream cheese with sugar and crushed cookies on top. They were so easy but delicious! I had two of them and a bowl of ice cream for dessert, yay for dessert!

I hope next week is full of more exciting news so I can update more!

It was a great day full of cheesy goodness, ahhh bliss!

Annnd now, here are the awesome cookies I made last night! I know it's lame, but I took a brownie mix to make the cookies. I could of made my own brownies, but it was getting late and I wanted baked goods now! They are so simple to make though. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and then take your favorite brownie mix, add one stick of softened butter, one egg, and any kind of chocolate chips you want, roll the dough into small (or large) balls, and the bake it for about 13 minutes. They are warm and gooey and taste half like a cookie and half like a brownie, awesome!

One tasty cookie!

Three cookies, yum!

Heaven! Warm brownie cookies smothered in ice cream!

Tasty, tasty days!

Ah, almost a week!

So sorry I've been gone! I had Spring Break this past week so it was full of lazy days with friends and family. On Thursday I wanted ice cream sooo bad that I ate pistachio again! Bleeeck it was horrible, I don't know how I finished the bowl, I love ice cream too much. x0

On Friday I left for cheer state. We got to eat some fast food and shopped a little, but mostly we spent the time practicing our routine over and over. Then on Saturday, we spent all day at the cheer school watching all the other 31 teams, and we preformed a five "man" stunt group and then our dance/cheer routine. We didn't win any medals, but we did pretty good for a team that's never competed before! I'm proud of my team! ^_^

I just got back this morning and am sooo tired, but I think I am going to bake tonight, so I will post my pizza party pictures from earlier this week and whatever yummy goods I decided to create tonight.

Parties, Lazy Sundays, and nachos: Oh my!

Well I didn't make anything for my friend on Friday, because I was told she was on a diet! I was like shoooot, I don't want to tempt her, so I went on over and she tells me she is on a diet... on Monday! x0

We made homemade pizzas, which were one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted! It was so cheesy and good, but I burnt the pineapple one we also made, whoops! Oh well it's not like I like pineapple. XP After we ate our pizza we watched a few movies and then proceeded to eat large ice cream sundaes. Yes I do eat ice cream a lot. x0

Anywho, on Sunday my mom and I just had a lazy day around the house watching the Food Network and the Olympics while cleaning up the kitchen a bit. It was also pretty warm out, so we BBQ some chicken and made yellow rice. It was so tasty that for dinner tonight I had a whole plate of it with some great nachos as well! Yummy!

On another note, isn't this the cutest necklace ever? Hint, hint!! : )

Sorry I haven't really posted much food yet, been really busy. In about three weeks I will have a lot more time for a while, but hopefully I post anyway! ^_^
