Eggs, eggs, oh and did I mention eggs? : )

Hey everyone! Woo it's been a busy, busy, busy ten days since I last posted!

First, I moved out of my old dorm room, and into a new one with a Subway in it AND an ICE CREAM VENDING MACHINE! Hecccck yeah. ; )

Then, I got a job at COLDSTONE'S! Yay! I'm surrounded by lovely ice cream a few days a week now, it's great! I have gone in a few days and I just LOVE it so far! It is fun making all those creations, and shakes/smoothies! I also love making the ice cream cakes! I don't even mind doing the dishes since I do them so much in my Culinary classes, it's like psh easy! : P

On Tuesday my morning classes were canceled but I went in anyway to help make about 230 sandwiches for an event that was going on later that day! I never want to see turkey or American cheese ever again! Haha! On Tuesday night I had another Pastry Tube art class where we pipped butter using a star tip to be used for a function that is coming up! We also learned how to make carnations, I have to sing "down up twist, down up twist!" to make them, haha no one seemed to mind though! x0

Eggs! Ahh! Haha I actually took pictures of Wednesday! We had to make eggs six different ways and show our chef! Here's my finished tray!
Photobucket

Haha that darn poached egg took me about five tries! I burned it the first time, and then I kept breaking the yolk when I flipped it, but I finally did it! : )

Here's my omelet in the process of being made!

After we 'mastered' the art of egg making, we moved onto breakfast foods! My group made pancakes! Plain, blueberry, chocolate, and chocolate blueberry! Yummy!

Our batter!

We had a feast of pancakes, waffles, quiche, and french toast! Oh, and of course EGGS! x0

Now today (Thursday) was my baking class! We made cookies, yum! My group made peanut butter and twiles! Other groups made two different chocolate chips, shortbreads, sugar cookies, lady fingers, macaroons, and more! I had so many cookies today, but they were all so good!

So tired now! I worked at Coldstone's and came home to do homework and am now finally done! Going to go internet around before heading to bed! See you all in Dreamland!!

Love,

Lizzie!

PS aren't I cute in a hair net? x0

Pastry Tube art!

Hey everyone! (even if this just means my mom, then Hi mom! *waves* xP )

So I had Pastry Tube art tonight! We worked with a star tip and made stars, zigzags, and roses! It was a very fun, and very messy! My teacher gave off a very mean first impression, but having these night classes with him I have seen he is actually really helpful and funny! I'm loving pastry tube art so far!

Photobucket
My pastry bag and the star tip. We practiced putting in the tips and filling up the bag, I was covered in that icing (which was about five years old! It smelled sooo good though it was hard not to taste it! X0 )

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies... oh my! : )

Hey everyone! I FINALLY found dark chocolate cocoa powder! I was so excited I came right back to my dorm and whipped up these amazing dark chocolate peanut butter cookies! I literally ate ten of them by myself, they are that good!

(Recipe found at: http://jennymacslipsmack.blogspot.com/2009/07/marriage-made-in-heaven.html ) : )

Photobucket

You'll need:

1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1 1/4 cups cocoa powder (I used Hershey's Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder)
2 tsps. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Chips
1 cup dark chocolate chips
1 cup lightly salted peanuts

NOW!:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and get a cookie sheet that is non stick (or use parchment paper like I did!)

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Slowly add eggs and vanilla until well combined.

Photobucket

3. In a medium sized bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Slowly add to wet ingredients then stir (with all your might!) in the two different chips, and the peanuts. Then form into desired scoops and place about two inches apart on the cookie sheet. (I did two batched with six large cookies, and one batch with 12 smaller cookies)

Photobucket

4. Bake for 12-15 minutes (original said 9-11 but my oven must suck because it took about 12 to 15 minutes for mine!) , should still be soft in center (and gooey!). Let the cookies rest in the fridge for about five to seven minutes or else they will go everywhere! (I cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned that kitchen. x0)

Now ENJOY!! : )

Culinary School

Hey everyone, wow it's almost been a month since I last posted, but I've been so busy!

I've been at college for a week now, and I'm loving it so far! I am taking Introduction to the Culinary Arts, Sanitation, Pastry Tube Art, Cooking 1, and Baking 1! I had my first class this past Thursday, which was Baking 1. It was so amazing! I met all my fellow classmates, and my amazing teacher. She seems like a great person, and a great chef! We then toured the bakery, and learned that bakers always need to weigh ingredients instead of just measuring certain amounts to be spot on when making things in bulk. We also broke into groups and made cookies, and the chef really like our groups! I have been doing homework and battling a cold these past few days, but I'm so excited for Tuesday to start some of my other classes!

I can't wait to take pictures and learn even more!

Love you all,

Lizzie! ^_^
